Canterbury supremo Phil Gould has been hospitalised and is awaiting test results on his heart.

Gould was admitted to hospital on Monday and did not appear on Nine’s 100% Footy program.

The Bulldogs general manager has been hospitalised since and there is no timeline for his discharge.

The 67-year-old remains one of the most influential figures in the NRL, through his work at both Nine and Canterbury.

With Gould at the helm, Canterbury has returned to being a force in the NRL, with a top-four finish this year.

Gould is said to be in good spirits and in regular communication with the Bulldogs from his hospital bed.

News of Gould’s health concerns emerged as the NRL’s gala night kicked off, with fellow Canterbury officials and captain Stephen Crichton at the Dally M Medal.

Gould had his tenure at Canterbury extended until the end of 2031 last month, with coach Cameron Ciraldo earning a similar extension.
