Michael Morgan replaces DCE in Qld team
North Queensland five eighth Michael Morgan will make his State of Origin debut for Queensland, replacing Daly Cherry-Evans who has been ruled out with a shoulder injury.
In scintillating NRL form for the Cowboys, 23-year-old Morgan will go onto the Maroons bench as a utility for the series opener at Sydney’s ANZ Stadium on May 27.
He got the nod for the bench spot ahead of Sydney Roosters forward Dylan Napa who remains with the squad as 18th man.
The Maroons ruled Cherry-Evans out on Wednesday because of the shoulder injury he suffered in Manly’s loss to Penrith on Monday night.
