A man has been arrested at Melbourne Airport while allegedly trying to flee the country as police discovered the body of a missing mum.

Victoria Police nabbed the 67-year-old man before he boarded an international flight on Friday afternoon.

He was charged with murder following the discovery of a woman’s body at Little River.

The woman, named in media as Eva Lasrini, 53, had reportedly failed to arrive in Bali to visit her daughters who live there.

The alarm was raised with police on Thursday 2 April that the woman was missing.

Police said the Dandenong woman had not contacted family as expected and the circumstances were deemed suspicious.

Investigations led police to the discovery of a woman’s body in the vicinity of Little River Road and the Princes Freeway in Little River Saturday afternoon.

The body, which is yet to be formally identified, is believed to be the missing woman.

The Patterson Lakes man has been charged with one count of murder and remanded in custody.

The Herald Sun reports that Lasrini had stopped responding to calls and text messages and her daughters in Bali, who were waiting for her visit, raised the alarm with friends in Melbourne.

Close friend Leonie Greenbury told the newspaper that Lasrini loved her daughters, friends and living in Australia.

“Eva just had a heart of gold,” Greenbury said on Sunday.

“Eva was vibrant, full of life, ready to go on adventures, see things. She loved shopping, she loved her daughters.

“Eva’s just that type that would just be raring to go, like: ‘Where are we going today? What’s our next adventure?’”

“She was grateful to be in Australia and tried to make a difference while she was here — she studied, she learnt and whoever met her really loved Eva and liked her a lot.”
