A man has been shot after allegedly pinning a sergeant between two cars during an attempted arrest.

A man hiding in bushland has been arrested after the fatal shooting of another man, in an incident that left another with gunshot wounds and a third injured by a ute.

With the help of sniffer dogs, the 36-year-old suspect was arrested and charged with murder on Wednesday night, hours after the alleged shooting in northern NSW where he fled the scene.

He was refused bail to appear at court on Thursday.

About 1.25pm on Wednesday, two men were allegedly shot at a property at Eungella, close to tourist hotspot Murwillumbah in northern NSW.

Paramedics treated a 41-year-old man, who is yet to be identified, for a gunshot wound but he died at the scene.

A 38-year-old man, who also suffered a gunshot wound, took himself to hospital some time later.

Police were then later alerted to another incident on the same road in Eungella where a 45-year-old man had been hit by a ute.

He was taken to hospital and remains under police guard.

Multiple crime scenes have been established and an investigation into the incidents continues.
