Family named from murder-suicide in affluent suburb

A family has been identified after four bodies and three pets were discovered at home in one of Perth’s wealthiest riverside suburbs.
Multiple media outlets have named the Clune family as dad Jarrod, mum Maiwenna Goasdowe, and their two sons, Leon, 16 and Otis, 14.
A cat and two dogs were also found deceased at the double-storey home.
The West Australian reports that a note was affixed to the front door warning not to enter the house, but to call the police.
The person who found the note was attending the home for a pre-arranged appointment, the newspaper reports.
When police arrived, they went inside and found the four bodies and those of their pets in different parts of the house.

“Although this investigation is in its infancy, police are investigating this matter as a murder-suicide,” homicide detective Jessica Securo said.
There was no weapon used in the incident, and police had no record of family violence matters involving the family, Securo said.
Both children had experienced “significant health challenges” — reported in media as autism — and the family had previously engaged with care services, she said.

The children reportedly attended one of Perth’s most prestigious schools for boys, Christ Church Grammar School.
In a previous school publication from 2017, Otis said he liked to climb, go on the swings and cook, while Leon said he liked to play with friends and explore by the river, writes The West Australian.
In 2015, their mother, who was born in France, had posed for a photograph in The West Australian for a story about the closure of a therapy clinic offering specialised autism services.

Both parents’ social media posts showed the boys when they were younger at birthday parties, the beach and swimming in the pool.
One neighbour told the newspaper he would see carers visiting the house, and he called on authorities to investigate whether the family had enough support.
“If people are driven to kill themselves, then something is missing,” Henry Oloworaran said.
Police have cordoned off the scene on Mott Close, where detectives and forensic officers in blue coveralls have been seen coming and going from the high-walled property.

Two boys and their parents have been found dead in a suspected murder-suicide in Perth.
Neighbours have been tight-lipped, but a steady stream of onlookers has been spotted driving past the scene on an adjoining road in the normally quiet suburb.
Support is being provided to first responders who arrived to what police described as a confronting scene.
“This is a tragic and devastating incident where a family has lost their lives, and the impact will be felt by the entire community,” Securo said.
