There’s a lot happening in the world right now and we’re more aware of it than ever through the constant stream of social media posts.

If you’ve been craving a break from the noise, a new four-day self-guided walk in Queensland might be just the ticket.

Designed for experienced hikers, the multiday experience in the state’s Scenic Rim invites walkers to step away from the screen and into a remote wilderness.

Your next grand hiking adventure is just 90 minutes from Brisbane, set among the World Heritage-listed Gondwana Rainforest – which covers roughly 370,000 hectares of ancient, biodiverse ecosystems.

The Scenic Rim Trail launched in 2009 and has since become one of Queensland’s leading ecotourism experiences, offering two-, three-, four- and six-day guided tours, alongside family-specific getaways for the school holidays.

Tapping into a growing appetite for slow travel and mental switch-offs, the new hike offers an alternative to packed itineraries. It positions hiking as an achievable and restorative escape rather than an extreme goal.

“Until now, we haven’t had an offering for experienced hikers who want to walk independently but don’t want to carry tents, food and overnight gear,” founder Jude Turner said.

The new multiday experience is designed for exactly that. It allows capable, self-sufficient hikers to roam freely at their own pace.

From the start point at Clumber Base on the outskirts of Mount Edwards, hikers are transferred to the Thornton trailhead to begin their walk. Covering roughly 18 kilometres a day, the trail winds through remote subtropical rainforest, open eucalypt forest, creek crossings and mountainous ridgelines, with highlights including sunrise at Mount Edwards, Dalrymple Falls and the Bare Rock scramble – plus the satisfaction of saying you completed it.

“This experience completes our overall offering, opening up the trail to people with strong outdoor skills who value both independence and comfort,” Turner said.

Though comfort may not be the first word that comes to mind when describing a 60-kilometre hike, this experience delivers exactly that.

Gone are the days of lugging heavy tents, food and overnight gear on your back. Instead, walkers are treated to daily chef-curated meals, hot showers and comfortable beds at exclusive private eco-accommodation sites such as Mount Mistake Farmhouse, the Amphitheatre Eco Camp and Timber Getters Eco Camp.

With every detail taken care of, walkers can immerse themselves in the landscape and disconnect from reality – even if only for a short while.

Bookings open on June 10, with monthly departures available. For more information and to explore the full itinerary, head here.
