Water cannons used against Gaza-bound aid flotilla

The Israeli navy has intercepted an international flotilla attempting to deliver humanitarian aid to the war-torn Gaza Strip.
Among those on board was Australian documentary filmmaker Juliet Lamont, who says Israeli forces began using high-pressure water cannons against the Global Sumud Flotilla as it sailed around 50 nautical miles off the shores of Gaza.
Live-streamed videos show protesters sitting on the deck, with some raising their hands in a surrender pose.
The flotilla is made up of 500 people, including politicians, lawyers and doctors, on 40 boats. Six Australians were on board, alongside high-profile Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg.
Israel’s Foreign Ministry says the activists will be deported to Europe.
