A grandmother has been killed in her bed — “the safest place in the world” — after a car ploughed into a Perth unit, crashing through the brick wall with an almighty bang.
Bishnu Kumari Gurung, 53, also known as Himali, was only three days into a visit from Nepal when she died tragically in her daughter’s home.
Police said a Ford Falcon crashed into the Riverdale property about 11.40pm on Friday after coming off the road. Gurung died at the scene.
“She was sleeping in a bed — the best, safest place in the world,” her heartbroken daughter Nisha said on Sunday.
“She came here to share memories and love [with] us.
“We are very broken. There are no words to express my feelings.”

Neighbour Ali Currimbhoy told the ABC he thought a plane had “dropped on top” of his roof when a “big bang” woke him from his sleep.
Police have charged the car’s driver, Rhyse Hawkins, 36, with manslaughter and criminal damage. He appeared in court on Sunday and was remanded in custody until his next court date on February 18.
The family launched a GoFundMe appeal to raise $22,000 for a funeral and other expenses.
“Our mother was a truly remarkable woman who was full of life, kindness, warmth, and unconditional love,” they said.
“She always put others before herself and lived her life with compassion and generosity.
“She was the heart and soul of our family, our greatest source of strength, comfort, and laughter.
“Her sudden passing has left an unimaginable void in our lives that words can hardly express.”

The tragedy had left the family facing “overwhelming emotional, psychological, and financial hardship”.
“As we try to navigate this incredibly painful time, we are humbly reaching out for support to help cover funeral expenses and to help our family adjust to life without her love and presence.
“Any contribution, no matter how small, will help ease this burden and allow us to focus on grieving, healing, and honouring her beautiful life and legacy.”
