Anaesthetist identified as deceased at luxury Airbnb

Police are treating the “distressing” discovery of a mother and daughter at a luxury Airbnb in Brisbane as a murder-suicide.
The 54-year-old woman has been identified in media reports as former anaesthetist Tiffany Wilkes, with her eight-year-old daughter reportedly the other body.
The alarm was reportedly raised when a scheduled email from Wilkes was received by a colleague, telling of her plan.
Video surveillance has since emerged showing a woman – believed to be Wilkes – taking out the wheelie bin on Sunday afternoon.

News Corp reports that Wilkes had rented the Airbnb — listed at about $1000 a night — for part of the school holidays.
The luxury holiday rental, which backs onto bushland near Mount Coot-tha, was only about 20 kilometres from her home suburb of Norman Park.
Separate media reports say Wilkes had not lived at her Norman Park home for about 18 months, but had instead rented various Airbnbs and stayed in hotels.
She reportedly worked as an anaesthetist at the Princess Alexandra and Wesley hospitals before leaving her job about 18 months ago, about the same time she stopped living at her home.

Queensland Premier David Crisafulli said the incident was distressing.
“The only word that comes to mind is distressing, distressing for everyone, including the first responders who had to see something that,” he said.
“No one should ever have to and it’s a distressing time.”
A Norman Park resident told The Courier-Mail that Wilkes had never moved into the property she bought and had been undertaking renovations.
“It has been vacant for over two years,” the resident said.
“She would pop in occasionally to chat to the builders.”
“She had renovations, so we thought once that was done, she would move in.
“We find it unusual because it’s quite a new build and the fact she was having renovations made was a bit unusual.
“She did that and then just disappeared.”
The resident said Wilkes spoke fondly of her daughter.
“I think she said she was an anaesthetist,” the resident told The Courier Mail.
“She was more about her daughter and how bright and clever she was.
“She wanted to move to Boston, America, because of the opportunities for her daughter there – better universities, and so forth – which we found a little bit surprising, considering her daughter was only six at the time.
“When her kid was kicking the ball out here, she said that she was very good at it and probably because she inherited that from her biological father.”
Investigators asked anyone with information or relevant footage to come forward.
The three-bedroom, two-bathroom, multimillion-dollar home was reportedly listed on Airbnb for about $1000 a night.
The gated property, with manicured hedges and a long driveway, is nestled in bushland bordering Brisbane’s Mount Coot-tha forest.
Listings show it has an eight-metre infinity pool on the 10,117-square-metre block.
