15-year-old about to fly around the world and into the history books

Byron Waller, at just 14 years old, became the youngest person – supported by an instructor – to circumnavigate Australia by plane.

If that wasn’t enough, the teenager accomplished the mammoth effort while battling a physically and emotionally debilitating inflammatory bowel disease known as Crohn’s.

Now, Byron is looking to broaden his horizons even further, attempting to fly around the world.

Due to take off on Saturday from Brisbane, the young pilot will cross cover Singapore, Egypt, Canada and Hawaii.

While weather dependent, the journey is expected to take two months – after which, he will become the youngest person to accomplish such a feat.
