Hoodoo Gurus super fan’s wish comes true after 40 years

Few people would hold out hope of receiving of a reply to a handwritten letter from a famous rockstar 40 years after posting it.

But patience has paid off for a Melbourne megafan of Aussie rock gods, The Hoodoo Gurus.

Back in 1985 the band had just released a second hit album and Elisse Baitz, who was just 13 years old at the time, decided to send her idols a letter.

She’d just bought their latest album and told them it was worth every penny. She also asked for a photo of the band members to be autographed and sent back to her.

While combing through archives some four decades later, the band’s lead singer, Dave Faulkner, stumbled upon the letter.

Faulkner posted a video to social media in an effort to find Elise, whose friend later alerted her to the announcement.

On Thursday the frontman made good on his vow – even going one better with a face-to-face meeting.

So, Elise got to realise her teenage dream, culminating in a sweet exchange with her very own Stoneage Romeo.
