Royals attend traditional Easter church service

The Prince and Princess of Wales and their young family have led this year’s parade of royals attending the traditional Easter Sunday service.

Kate and William and their three children Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte 10 and Prince Louis, 7, walked from Windsor Castle to St George’s Chapel on the castle grounds.

It was Kate’s first Easter service since her cancer diagnosis two years ago.

The Prince and Princess of Wales missed the Easter service in 2025 as they were spending the weekend with their children in Norfolk.

They were also absent in 2024 as it came just over a week after Kate released an emotional video message disclosing that she had started a course of preventative chemotherapy.

Noticeably absent this year were the disgraced Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and his daughters Beatrice and Eugenie.

With the agreement of the King, the princesses made alternative plans. Andrew was spotted alone walking his dogs on the Sandringham Estate.

Andrew, his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson, and their daughters attended last year.

Other royals in attendance were Princess Anne and her husband, Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, and the Duke of Edinburgh and his son James, Earl of Wessex, 18.

In 2025, Charles and Camilla were joined by Andrew and his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson at the 15th-century chapel on Easter Sunday.

Since then, Andrew has been stripped by the King of both his right to be a prince and his dukedom over his association with the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, though Beatrice and Eugenie kept their princess titles.

Virginia Giuffre, who died by suicide in 2025, alleged that she was forced to have sex three times with Andrew, including when she was 17, after she was trafficked by Epstein.

Andrew was arrested in February, on his 66th birthday, on suspicion of misconduct in public office after allegations he shared sensitive information with Epstein during his time as the UK’s trade envoy.

Andrew has denied any wrongdoing over his links to Epstein regarding Giuffre, but has not directly responded to the latest allegations.

Beatrice and Eugenie have also faced scrutiny after their names appeared in the recently released Epstein files.

The Easter service comes days after Buckingham Palace announced Charles’ visit to the US will go ahead from April 27 to April 30 as planned, despite tensions between President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Keir Starmer over the Iran war.
