Netflix has released a trailer giving viewers a taste of what they can expect from the special Christmas edition of Meghan Markle’s lifestyle show – and it’s got more cheer than a sleigh full of Santas.
“I love the holiday season,” the Duchess of Sussex gushes, as a jazzy version of Jingle Bells plays in the background.
“It’s about finding time to connect with the people we love – embracing traditions – and making new ones.”
Netflix says the new instalment of its series With Love, Meghan, Holiday Celebration – premiering on December 3 – invites viewers to join Meghan at home in Montecito, California, “as she shares how she likes to make this time with family and friends especially memorable and meaningful”.
The home itself is the stuff of Christmas rom-coms and Hallmark cards – full of fairylights and candles, with a glowing fire in the grate and a row of stockings over the hearth.
The trailer shows Meghan selecting a Christmas tree, popping champagne, baking, crafting Christmas decorations and wrapping parcels. She is joined by tennis player Naomi Osaka and chef Tom Colicchio, and at one point shares a quick kiss with Prince Harry in the kitchen.
Netflix says the duchess and her guests will share “simple how-tos to follow at home” as they “deck the halls, create holiday feasts, craft heartfelt gifts, and share lots of laughs”.
The streamer confirmed in August that it had renewed its partnership with the Meghan and Harry, although it fell short of the original $US100 million ($A153 million), five-year agreement the Duke and Duchess of Sussex struck in 2020.
At the time, they announced several upcoming collaborations, including a second season of With Love, Meghan, a lifestyle and cooking show starring the duchess.
Netflix has said With Love was its most-watched culinary show since its release in March, despite some critics panning it as inauthentic, unoriginal and “too produced”.
Variety delivered one of the most blunt reviews, describing the show’s overall aesthetic as like Meghan’s on-camera wardrobe: “Well-tailored and beige.”
The Holiday Celebration trailer suggests the new season will be equally polished and saccharine, as Meghan encourages viewers to “embrace the special touches that bring you joy”.
The sneak peek of the show has been released at the same time as the latest issue of glossy magazine Harper’s Bazaar, which features the duchess on its cover and a wide-ranging interview in which she discusses her romance with Harry and their family life.
Meghan posted the magazine cover and behind-the-scenes footage from the photoshoot on her social media on Thursday.
