Madonna has offered a public reward after vintage costumes went missing during her surprise appearance at the Coachella music festival.
The 67-year-old pop icon said a jacket, corset, dress and other items from her archival wardrobe had disappeared.
When Madonna took to the stage last Friday (US time), it was a “full-circle moment” that lit up the internet.
But the music legend said the experience “hit different” when she realised that special pieces she had pulled from her wardrobe had gone missing.
“These aren’t just clothes; they are a part of my history,” Madonna wrote.
“Other archival items from the same era went missing as well,” she continued.
“I’m hoping and praying that some kind soul, will find these items and reach out to my team.”
The queen of pop made a surprise appearance alongside Sabrina Carpenter at the festival in the California desert, where the pair performed her classic song Like a Prayer.
But Madonna’s performance also stirred up online shock at the “zombie” crowd that could be seen filming on their phones, with barely anyone dancing, clapping or showing any excitement.
The internet lit up with generation X music lovers in disbelief at the way the younger generation Z enjoys live concerts.
“What I saw was the most dead & dystopian crowd I’ve ever seen at anything,” posted a fan on Instagram.
Lamented another: “Madonna is the QUEEN of queens the OG of female pop and rule breaking. This generation has no idea what a legend she is.”
And Calnem wrote: “The first thing I said was what a boring crowd everybody standing still with their phones on.”
Madonna first took to the stage while Sabrina was singing Juno, appearing during the lyric “Have you ever tried this one?”
The song then cut to Madonna’s Vogue, which the pair sang together, along with Like A Prayer. There was also a new track, which is believed to be from Madonna’s upcoming Confessions II.
After the performance, Madonna thanked Carpenter for the collaboration.
“Sabrina, thank you so much for inviting me on your show,” she said.
To which Carpenter replied: “No thanks needed, Madonna. You can have whatever you want.”
Madonna went on to reminisce about her last performance at Coachella, two decades ago.
“I have a few things I wanna get off my chest. Twenty years ago today, I performed at Coachella. I was in the dance tent, and it was the first time I performed Confessions on the Dance Floor Part I in America. And that was such a thrill for me, so you can imagine what a thrill it is for me to be back 20 years later in the same boots, the same corset, the jacket I had on earlier, the same Gucci jacket. So, it’s like a full circle moment, very meaningful for me,” she said.
“In all circumstances for the rest of the month, let’s try to get along, OK? And to that point, the great thing about music is that it brings people together, am I right? It’s the one place that people have to put their differences aside, put their shit down, and just everybody have a good time together, right?
“I am thrilled to be a part of that healing experience, bringing people together.”
Madonna also joked that she was thrilled to perform with Carpenter because she was one of the few pop stars who is shorter than Madonna.
“The other thrilling thing I need to point out to everybody right now is this probably the first time I’ve ever performed with someone who’s shorter than me. So, thank you for giving me that experience,” she said.
Carpenter replied, “Amen!”
Madonna first performed at Coachella in 2006. She also made a 2015 guest appearance in 2015 during a set by Drake.
The singer recently announced a new album, her first in around seven years. Confessions on a Dance Floor: Part II will be released on July 3.
