Victoria Beckham breaks silence on Brooklyn feud

Former Spice Girls star Victoria Beckham has said she and her husband Sir David Beckham “love our children so much” and have “always tried to be the best parents” in response to their ongoing feud with son Brooklyn Peltz Beckham.
Brooklyn, the oldest son of the 51-year-old and the former England footballer, has accused them of “trying endlessly to ruin my relationship since before my wedding, and it hasn’t stopped” in a social media post in January.
In the same post, the younger Beckham also claimed his wife Nicola Peltz Beckham had been “disrespected” by his family.
“I think that we’ve always — we love our children so much,” Victoria Beckham has told The Wall Street Journal in her first public comments on the dispute.
“We’ve always tried to be the best parents that we can be, and you know, we’ve been in the public eye for more than 30 years right now, and all we’ve ever tried to do is protect our children and love our children, and you know, that’s all I really want to say about it.”
She told the US outlet that the negative press had not affected her business.
“I think that ultimately people are buying my product because the product is really good. I don’t think they’re buying my eyeliner just because it’s me,” she said.
It comes after Brooklyn also said in social media posts that he did not want to “reconcile” with his family, accusing his parents of prioritising “Brand Beckham” over all else and controlling narratives in the media.
DJ Fat Tony, who performed at the Beckham’s wedding to Peltz, claimed on ITV’s This Morning earlier this year that the feud began when American singer Marc Anthony had asked for “the most beautiful woman in the room” to come to the stage at the wedding.
Guests were said to have believed that was for Peltz’s first dance with her new husband. Instead, Victoria was called to the stage and asked to dance with her son, prompting Peltz to leave the room in tears.
“What it was, was — and why I said it was inappropriate as well — was because it was the timing. What happened was, basically, Marc Anthony was performing on stage, he then called Brooklyn onto the stage,” he said.
“Brooklyn went onto the stage, and the next minute everyone’s expecting it to be Nicola to go up and do the first dance, and then Marc asked for the most beautiful woman in the room to come to the stage – and then he says, ‘Victoria, come to the stage’.
“So Victoria is by the stage, she goes onto the stage, and of course, at that point, Brooklyn is literally devastated because he thought he was going to do his first dance with his wife, then Nicola leaves the room crying her eyes out.
“Brooklyn is stuck there on stage, and they do this dance, and Marc Anthony says ‘put your hands on your mother’s hips’ and it was a Latin thing, and the whole situation was really awkward for everyone in the room.”
However, Anthony later told US outlet The Hollywood Reporter that the way that the feud had come out was “hardly the truth”.
Despite the feud, the Beckhams took to Instagram to wish their eldest son a happy birthday in March.
