Sacked Qantas workers vindicated

Record Qantas fine

He’s one of the faces of the biggest corporate crime in Australian history.

Don Dixon worked as a baggage handler at Qantas for 20 years, then, one day, he didn’t. Marched out the door with many other illegally sacked workers under the guise of Covid cuts.

On Monday, they marched out of the Federal Court, vindicated. They are walking away with their heads held high along with the $120 million in compensation the airline has already paid.

Qantas has accepted the judgment and penalty.

“Today’s judgment holds us accountable for our actions that caused real harm to our employees,” CEO Vanessa Hudson said, adding“we sincerely apologise.”
