Australians, rejoice! We have a new world surfing champion, with 22-year-old Molly Picklum claiming the sport’s most prestigious crown.

“Pickles”, as she’s known, had to fight for the title… coming up against a growing swell, and a tenacious opponent, at the shallow reef break in Fiji known as “Cloudbreak”.

Speaking to 10 News+, the newly crowned queen revealed that she revels in the big waves – they make her focussed when she’s scared. She also confessed more than a few drinks were poured into her trophy during the celebrations.
