Series of concussions force Adams retirement
North Melbourneâs Leigh Adams has been forced into retirement following recent concussions.
Adams consulted the Kangaroosâ medical staff as well as specialists before making the decision, which the club announced on Saturday.
The 27-year-old played 104 senior matches after making his debut in 2007, a year after he joined the Kangaroos through the rookie draft.

Adams, who suffered a spate of head knocks during his career, tried to return to football through the VFL this year, but received another hit in June.
âItâs a real credit to âPatchâ [Adams], that in my view, he redefined that forward/midfielder role in todayâs footy. He really did play that role as well as any player in the competition,â Scott said in a statement.
âPatch was such a highly valued person and highly valued performer for us over such a long period.
âBut we know there are things that are more important than the game. As a footy club, Iâm proud of the way everyone has supported Patch through a really difficult time and certainly support his decision.â
Adams kicked 72 goals during his career with the Kangaroos.
