Woman steals football shirt from kid

An eight-year-old English football fan had a dream day at Wembley ruined after the match-worn shirt of a star player was taken by a woman.

Ted Dockray, named in the Lancashire Evening Post, was at the famous venue to see Preston North End defeat Swindon Town 4-0 in the League One play-off final on Sunday.

Preston’s star man, Jermaine Beckford, scored a hat-trick and threw his shirt to a group of kids in the crowd after being substituted, but an ugly tug-of-war followed.

The prized item was eventually wrestled from Dockray by a woman wearing a pink shirt and to make matters worse, it reportedly appeared for sale on Gumtree for £1,500 ($2,966) later before being removed after complaints.

The incident sparked outrage on social media and Beckford later said: “It was intended as a goodwill gesture. Hopefully, it will find its way back to the kid who caught it.”
