The Antarctic weather anomaly that could alter Australia’s climate

Weather change coming
A change in the temperature high above Antarctica could dramatically alter Australia’s climate in the coming weeks and months.
In the last seven days the stratosphere above Antarctica has warmed by a around 30 degrees.
This extremely rare atmospheric event, according to climatologists, have only been documented twice before – in 2002 and 2019 – exacerbating catastrophic bushfires that coincided with those years.
Experts believe the weather anomaly could lead to more climate variation across south Australia, especially with more abnormally hot days in the south and drier-than-average conditions for the east.
