Three dead following multivehicle highway collision

Police are working to determine the cause of a multivehicle crash which killed three people.
Three people are dead and two others are in hospital following a collision on a major regional highway.
A B-double truck, two smaller trucks and two cars were involved in the collision on the Western Highway near Ararat, in Victoria’s west, about 12.30pm on Wednesday.
The driver of one car and two people inside a truck were declared dead at the scene.
Victoria Police said the driver of the other car was taken to hospital as a precaution, while paramedics also transported another person to hospital.
The three people who died are yet to be formally identified and police have released no further details about them.
Detectives from the major collision unit are investigating and the exact circumstances of the collision have not yet been established.
Anyone with information or dashcam footage has been urged to contact investigators immediately.
