Heavy-set men dressed in black are suspected of being behind an early morning gangland fatal shooting of a man at a suburban apartment complex.

The 38-year-old victim was rushed to hospital but died a short time later.

NSW Police believed those responsible for the shooting had organised crime links, Superintendent Robert Toynton said.

“This is a targeted attack. This is not a random attack,” he said on Monday.

He described the accused shooters as heavy-set men dressed in black clothes and urged the public to come forward with any relevant information.

“Someone must have seen something,” Toynton said.

“Someone must have heard something. Someone must have seen a car, or these offenders leaving on foot.

“NSW Police take gun-related crime very seriously … we’re throwing all the resources we can at this incident and hopefully we can make a quick arrest.”

A second man found at the scene with non-life-threatening injuries was taken to hospital.

A crime scene has been established and investigations are ongoing.
