Critical vote looms on Ivan Milat unsolved murders inquiry

Ivan Milat vote
Ivan Milat, the “backpacker murderer”, was one of Australia’s most notorious serial killers.
He was convicted of murdering two men and five women between 1989 and 1992.
Today, NSW MPs will decide whether to hold an inquiry into evidence that might connect Milat to potentially dozens of other unsolved murders.
The man driving that quest is the Legalise Cannabis MP Jeremy Buckingham, who believes Milat “was probably one of the worst serial killers in human history”.
The inquiry is also backed by a former Canberra crime historian, now state MP, Nichole Overall, as well as families of victims in unsolved murder cases.
