Dandenong an Hallam fire crews attended the scene,CFA worker Paul Carrigg told the Herald Sun.

Upon entering the house, fire crews found the woman amongst heavy smoke.

“They located a victim, they dragged the victim from the house and commenced life saving techniques… but were unsuccessful in saving her life,” Mr Carrigg said.

The death is being treated as suspicious and the homicide squad is investigating.

The cause of death is still to be determined and police have been door knocking around the neighbourhood for information that could help the investigation.
