Man found dead inside car at bottom of cliff

A man has been found dead after his car went over a cliff in Victoria, police say.

The man’s mangled car was found on rocks at the bottom of the cliff near the Flinders Blowhole on Melbourne’s Mornington Peninsula just before 11am.

A Victoria Police spokesperson said the car was found near the intersection of Blowhole Track and Boneo Road.

Passersby spotted car and alerted police around 11am, but police are not yet sure how long the car had been there.

Search and rescue crews are attempting to rescue the body before high tide makes the operation difficult.

Flinders’ Blowhole Track is a popular tourist destination, offering clear views of the peninsula’s wild, rocky coastline and Bass Strait.
