Hero’s standing ovation
Sergeant-at-Arms Kevin Vickers has been given a standing ovation by Canada’s parliament after shooting dead a gunman who went on a shooting spree in Ottowa.
Mr Vickers was clearly moved by the reception as he opened parliament after the tragedy which left a Canadian soldier dead.

Downtown Ottowa was sent into lockdown when gunman Michael Zehaf-Bibeau stormed Canadian parliament after gunning down Corporal Nathan Cirillo at a nearby memorial.
