Hot property: what $725m buys you in the US
One of the largest ranches in the United States, the WT Waggoner Ranch in North Texas, is for sale.
Its listing marks the end of decades of lawsuits by the heirs of the Texas cattle baron who established the Waggoner estate in 1923.
It has been listed for $US725 million ($A784.42 million).
Brokers Sam Middleton of Lubbock and Bernie Uechtritz of Dallas are handling the sale.
Uechtritz says the 206,390ha Waggoner Ranch is the largest contiguous ranch in the US. The estate also includes hundreds of houses and horses, thousands of head of cattle, 1200 oil wells and 12,141ha of cultivated land.
WT Waggoner’s father, Dan Waggoner, started ranching in 1849.
A state judge approved the liquidation on Wednesday in Vernon. The Vernon Daily Record first reported the deal.
