Pro-life group targets Australian tech giant Canva

Anti-abortion protesters are targeting Australian companies over their employee policies.

Australian start-up success story Canva has drawn the ire of a pro-life organisation.

After Roe versus Wade, the case that gave constitutional protection to abortion in the US, was overturned 2022, Canva promised to cover the cost of travel and accommodation for staff based in America if they had to receive abortion care elsewhere.

Right to Life has complained that Canva’s design tools offer pro-choice templates but no pre-populated designs for pro-life causes, with the group questioning if the tech company should take sides in the debate.

Australian pro-choice campaigner has Amy Barrett warned against “well-funded campaigns that are seeking to roll back the abortion laws” and the “Americanisation of politics around this issue”.
