Matildas star Mary Fowler has strutted her stuff on the world fashion stage in Paris.

The 22-year-old soccer player made her catwalk debut at the Le Défilé L’Oréal Paris show on Monday (local time), joining big names such as Helen Mirren and Kendall Jenner on the runway.

With her appearance at Paris’s Hôtel de Ville in front of 3000 guests, the Cairns-born athlete became the first Australian professional footballer to walk the runway.

“Stepping onto the runway was an exhilarating experience and different from anything I’ve experienced on the football pitch,” she said after the show.

“I hope every young woman watching, especially back home in Australia, felt that sense of empowerment and is inspired to embrace their individuality and walk with pride, knowing they are worth it.”

The Matildas and Manchester City forward is also a L’Oréal Paris brand ambassador, having signed with the company last year. She walked the runway in a chic black gown by Christian Siriano. – stopping at the end to blow a kiss for the cameras.

Fowler has been off the soccer field since rupturing an anterior cruciate ligament during an FA Cup match against Manchester United in April. The injury was expected to sideline her for the rest of the year.

Last month, Fowler was named in the 2024-25 PFA WSL Team of the Year for the first time. She was also nominated for Women’s PFA Players’ Player of the Year and PFA Young Player of the Year.
