A Parkinson’s diagnosis forced TV economist Craig James to retire. Now he’s found a new outlet

Beloved TV Finance expert Craig James has turned his Parkinson’s diagnosis into a superpower.
Three years ago, the devastating diagnosis saw him leave our television screens and retire from his role as CommSec’s Chief economist.
But the 63-year-old took the diagnosis in his stride, taking up powerlifting to improve his physical and mental health.
He says it’s helping to ward off his physical decline as a result of Parkinson’s, and it’s improved his coordination, reaction time, and overall strength.
Now, the finance guru holds the world record for deadlifting in his weight category and is ranked 11th in the world, and is encouraging more Australians of all ages to lift their way to better health.
