Margot Robbie dazzles in big, bold, beautiful dress

Australian actor Margot Robbie made a sparkling return to the red carpet for the London premiere of her new film A Big Bold Beautiful Journey.

The star of Barbie and I, Tonya, who welcomed her first child with husband Tom Ackerley in November last year, wore what Harpers Bazaar described as a “plunging naked dress with a completely open back”.

The floor-length gown came from Armani’s Privé spring/summer runway collection and was adorned with colourful beads and crystals in a range of shapes.

Vogue said the “big, bold, beautiful dress” showed the naked dressing trend was far from over – despite overly revealing gowns being banned from the runway at this year’s Cannes Film Festival.

It also noted that the gown was a fitting tribute to Italian fashion designer Giorgio Armani, who died last week at the age of 91.

Robbie was joined at the premiere by co-star Colin Farrell, who had donned a long tan trench coat and black suit for the occasion.

A Big Bold Beautiful Journey is an American fantasy film in which two strangers – Robbie and Farrell – meet at a friend’s wedding and find themselves swept up in an adventure where they get to relive important moments from their pasts. The cast includes Kevin Kline and Phoebe Waller-Bridge.

Queensland-born Robbie also stars alongside fellow Aussie Jacob Elordi in the upcoming controversial new erotic adaptation of Emily Bronte’s classic novel Wuthering Heights.

A brooding teaser that dropped last week was full of sexually suggestive scenes and followed an early test screening last month that sparked mixed reactions, with some viewers allegedly complaining it was “aggressively provocative and tonally abrasive”.
