#DressGate: what colours do you see?

It’s the photo dividing the world – a simple dress on a clothing hanger.

Half of the world would describe this dress as gold and white, others would describe it as blue and black.

What’s more – there’s no definitive evidence that the dress is either colour combination; just a whole lot of confusing perceptions.

Photoshop’s colour selection tool identifies the colours in the dress as dark shades of brown and light shades of purple.

However, according to a poll conducted by Buzzfeed, the majority of Americans surveyed see white and gold.

The image, uploaded to blogging site Tumblr, is trending on social media and generating a lot of discussion.
