Julia Robertsâ outrageous fee for four days of work

How much money would you want to wear a bad wig and hang out with Jennifer Aniston for four days?
If your answer is anywhere in the ball park of $US3 million, youâd better get Julia Robertsâ agent on your side.
The Oscar winner just scored that exact sum for her latest role as a home shopping network star in ensemble comedy Motherâs Day.

According to Variety, Robertsâ total time on set amounted to just four days, meaning she earned a whopping $US750,000 per day.
Amazingly, this isnât even Robertsâ highest-paying gig â she scored $US20 million for her Oscar-winning turn in 2000âs Erin Brokovich.
So, was Robertsâ performance in Motherâs Day worth $3 million? In short, no.
The film, directed by Garry Marshall of Pretty Woman fame and also starring Aniston, Kate Hudson and Jason Sudeikis, grossed an abysmal $US8 million in the US over its opening weekend and just over $US10 million globally.
In comparison, animated childrenâs film The Jungle Book grossed $US103 million in the US on its opening weekend.
This lacklustre box office performance could have something to do with the filmâs reviews, which have been critical at best.
âDirector Garry Marshall is a menace,â Rolling Stoneâs reviewer declared. âHe keeps killing holidays with all-star comedies in which a laugh would die of loneliness.â
The Hollywood Reporter joked: âA movie not even a mother could love.â
The rest of the attention the film has received has been focused on Robertsâ bizarre wig â a bright orange bob â which she also wore for her 1999 hit film Notting Hill.
This isnât the first time in recent years a movie helmed by Roberts has flopped.
The Secret in Their Eyes pulled an unremarkable $32 million globally in 2015 while her 2012 Snow White film Mirror Mirror got lost among countless other adaptations.
For Roberts, this might mean sheâs no longer as bankable a star as she was in the 1980s and â90s â no real concern for a woman whose reported net worth is $170 million.
Actually, make that $173 million.
